artShare is a Loudoun Arts Council Annual Grant Program for Loudoun County Non-Profit Arts Organizations
The artShare grants program is an annual grant opportunity created to assist non-profit arts organizations based in and serving the Loudoun County community by providing funds to help maintain their stability and encourage their development.
These grants are awarded for demonstrated strength in management, important contributions to the community, and high artistic quality.
The 2018-2019 application period for artShare grants will open September 1, 2018. Applications will be due October 31, and awards will be announced by mid-December.
The 2017-2018 grantees received artShare funding for a variety of needs to strengthen their operations and their offerings:
- VSA of Loudoun County requested funds to hire an Assistant Theater Director for their spring musical, Willy Wonka, and to procure storage space for artwork produced by their DaVinci program artists until it is put on exhibit or sold.
- The Loudoun Symphony requested funds to again offer the popular summertime outdoor Pops music concert.
- The Loudoun Ballet requested funds to recruit a new Artistic Director, to develop new performance programming, and to offset the increasing cost of renting performance venue space in Loudoun County.
- Loudoun Lyric Opera requested funds for set design and labor for the April 2018 double-bill of Trial by Jury and Trouble in Tahiti, requiring a courtroom set for Trial and sets of numerous locales for Tahiti.
Grant writing is an important activity for today's arts organizations, and artShare provides a realistic exercise for improving skills. Each year, the Loudoun Arts Council awards grants to local arts organizations that have demonstrated artistic excellence and effective management.
Please note that applicants must have 501(c)3 designation by the IRS, and must be current members in good standing of the Loudoun Arts Council.
