Woodturner Harriet Maloney uses a wide range of wood, both local and exotic, in her creation of finely detailed bowls, boxes, vases, medallions and a variety of other art and functional pieces. Inspired by the nature of the wood itself, she draws on the unique characteristics of each piece to help guide the ultimate outcome that conveys a sense of warmth and familiarity. Harriet helped her husband, Don, in his architectural woodturning business for many years eventually learning the craft from him, and has been turning vessels and objects for more than 12 years. She has exhibited at the Aldie Mill Art Show, Burwell Morgan Mill Art Show, and Franklin Park Center for the Performing Arts, the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, VA, Bluemont Vineyard, and the Firehouse Gallery and Shop in Berryville, VA. Both Harriet and Don are founding members of the The Gateway Gallery in Round Hill, VA.
