CIY is a community pottery and specialty arts studio in Ashburn, Virginia. CIY, which stands for Create It Yourself, brings novice and experienced potters together to engage and inspire each other in their shared craft.

The studio is available to members six days a week, granting full access to all equipment including nine throwing wheels, two large hand-building tables, two slab rollers, three kilns, several glaze options and other supplies.

Students can get in touch with their creative side in our beginner classes, while more experienced potters can refine their skills at our specialty workshops, mastering advanced design and decorative techniques.

At specialty workshops such as our ‘Dinner, Drinks, and Dirt’ workshop, students can have a little fun trying a new hobby with their friends— shaping take-home items like dog bowls, beer mugs, holiday platters, Christmas trees and ghosts while enjoying dinner and drinks from one of the excellent University Commerce Plaza restaurants. CIY is the perfect place to create a unique date night, birthday party, or private party.

Ceramics isn’t the only way to get creative at CIY. On occasion, CIY offers workshops in other art forms, such as creative crafting, stained glass, wreath making, and resin art.
